Lilla Nygatan 23, built in the 19th century for Enskilda Bank, has ornate interiors, high ceilings, and large arched windows. These features drew Spaces (IWG plc) to turn it into a flexible office and co-working space that resembles a boutique, upscale hotel. We organised key communal areas, including a refined business club, across three floors, all connected by the original grand staircase and hallway, enhancing the user experience while honouring the building's history.

  • Grand Staircase

  • Club Room

Visitors enter a beautifully decorated hall featuring marble columns, vaulted ceilings, and stone floors. An alcove houses a simple brass reception desk that complements the entrance’s grandeur. Timeless furniture from Vitra, Hay, and &Tradition creates a comfortable arrival space.

  • Lounge

The business club is in a beautiful, decorate room on the first floor, featuring coffered ceilings, wooden wall panels, and large arched windows that provide views of Gamla Stan's historic streets.

  • Business Club

New joinery pieces divide the large room into three human-scale areas for work and socialising. The first area is a café with a coffee bar, the central space is for co-working with comfortable seating and a communal table, and the last area is for quiet, focused work with booths aligned to the large windows.

The plaster walls are painted a classic green, connecting the colours of the grand hall and staircase blending historic and modern styles. Key themes include warm European oak for the joinery, deep classic greens for acoustic lining and leather upholstery in the booths, and brass for the simple yet striking bar.

  • Quiet Work

The vaulted basement offers a meeting suite with a large breakout area and self-service kitchen, serving as both a co-working and lunch space. Arched timber portals highlight the entrances to each meeting room and uplighting enhances the vaulted ceilings for a cosy feel.
